The Eager Readers meet at Farrington Grove Retirement Village, Linkwood Drive, Ferny Hills, at 6.00pm on the third Monday of each month and have a tasty meal before discussing a new book each month. They make the meetings a pleasant night out instead of simply a literary discussion. We are all keen readers and the discussions are lively as well as friendly. The meetings are usually finished by 7.30pm, so it’s not a late night, either.
Our group, small as we are with six members, have had an interesting year and have read a variety of books, including the surprisingly engaging Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and the (very) strange Stealing Picasso. We will never look at the art world in the same way again.
We are always looking for new members, as the libraries cater for up to ten members in a group. The more members we have, the wider the range of ideas and opinions – and the better the discussion.
We are still looking for new recruits and would love to have other members of Albany Creek NSA (male or female) join us. If you are interested, please ring Hilary Calder on 3464-5606 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
